A vegan’s case for Ron Paul

Parents with uncommon eating habits get watched very closely and get scolded by busybodies. From a medical standpoint, I think it's insane for a pregnant or nursing woman to eat vegan. But I think she has a right to do so. Many people don't.

Meh. Vegan diets can be absolutely as nutricious and healthy as a non-vegan diet, assuming that the individual has done the research and uses their head. There are tons of vegans who don't eat healthy and a nutrient deficient, but more and more are eating perfectly healthy diets.

Now the folks who refused to feed their newborn baby anything but apple juice...

My primary problem with being a vegan is that I feel like I'm starving myself... or I don't know what to eat that would be nutritionally balanced.

Now a days, there are tons of "fake meats" that make it a lot easier. And the internet helps you find pretty much any processed food in a vegan form.

I used to eat tons of tempeh though, probably more tempeh than any tofue or fake meat product. Nutritional yeast on a lot of stuff, tons of nuts and beans.

I had an ex that used to cook a lot of Asian (most Thai, actually) and Middle Eastern dishes. It helped add variety.

I stopped eating vegan a few weeks into my first deployment. Kind of hard to be vegan and stay alive while eating nothing but MREs. Bleh. I still have a hard time eating some meats, but I'm too apathetic to bother with veganism now. Just doesn't seem as important now as it once did.

Is it true that vegan diets are healthier? I read that humans aren't meant to eat meat.... Yes, I used to eat fake stuff and I like the taste of "silk" soy milk. Good stuff

Humans are omnivores. Even if we were meant to be vegetarians, being vegan makes no sense to me. I can't understand why it's bad to eat honey or milk, but perfectly fine to eat plants. Honey and milk don't require killing a living thing. Plants have feelings too.

I predict a future "Vegetable Rights Movement" that advocates eating only artificial food.

Why would you think humans aren't supposed to eat meat?

We can get sick if we eat uncooked infected meat. Parasites, bacteria...whatever else is there. Lions can eat the same meat and be okay. I don't think nature knew humans were gonna cook their food, so maybe it's unatural for us? Then again, I have heard someting about the pancreas being able to help in the digestion of uncooked meats at one point in time?

I have also read that

uhh "they say" that our bodies can't digest cow milk or whatever... I have also read that meat eating humans have pounds and pounds of rotting meat inside of our bodies, you know, meat that hasn't been digested..
