A profile of our meetup group in NYC:

* Age range - 7 years old to 70 years old. 60% of members are under the age of 30.
* Previous and current Political affiliations - Independent, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, and Conservative, Green, Reform (previous...now [hopefully all] registered as Republican in NYS). Many previously didn't care about politics and saw the system as hopeless.
* where are the members coming from- all 5 boroughs, NJ
* ethnically - increasingly diverse (many blacks are coming to realize that the government takes money away from them and are many are strongly-IRS). Also, a black man is as likely to die before the age of 65 as he is to get a penny back from social security which he paid into his whole life...Social security as it is now is an unintentionally racist system.
* Politically - All political walks of life
* Employment - Ron Paul supporters tend to be intelligent, in all walks of like. From physicians to teachers to homeschoolers to Catholic priests to professors to taxicab drivers
* money raised- 30K correct in one 10 day period...exponential fundraising every quarter (up to $5 million from around the country in Q3)
* Founding date- May 12
* Current membership- 650 people (in 4 months)
* Growth rate- 650 people in 4 months. A few more join every day. Like Dr. Paul's fundraising, exponential growth. Huge bumps after the debates and lately due to main stream media coverage.
* why you started the meetup - To get the message out in New York City and have fun doing it.

I just want to commend you on all that you're doing. You have one of the most consistently successful Meetups in the country, which is heartening for the city of Mr. 9/11. I've been watching you guys for a while and you always have strong attendance compared to the rest of us. I'm sure its in no small part due to the things you do to promote, like buying the first round for people that show up. Keep up the fantastic work.

You guys are great! It was good meeting you this summer. Are you doing anything with the Mises event this week there?

it is intentionally racist. always was. same with the welfare state, intentionally racist, soft slavery.... with this particular "demographic" i find this argument works wonders. "white" folks often forget that the majority of welfare recipients are "white" folks. it helps to stop thinking of "blacks" as "blacks."

i find the welfare state/soft slavery/inflation a home run everytime. "blacks" if anyone, know the danger/corruption associated with the democratic party and are astute enough (largely due to shared cultural traditions) that both parties are corrupt, and the government is an anti-black entity. also, many folks are angered (even on the subconscious level) that they are considered "democratic" votes...

for these reasons the "republican" issue is a much smaller issue than when dealing w/ typical "democratic white" people.... particularly "young democratic white" people.

just my .02
