I watched that last week, but didn't share. I know Stossel likes to report like he's talking to 3rd graders, but I don't think he does a very good job here.
First, the MOST important thing is to distinguish between global trade and global governance... He doesn't do it. So, "globalization" already has a negative connotation.
Then, he doesn't touch the (mistaken) idea that if we trade, we'll become dependent on it and won't be able to adjust if things go bad.
I also don't think they did the argument any favors in trying to debunk the "race to the bottom" myth. Of course there is a race to the bottom - if someone can do something cheaper, that creates more value! It's what the free market is all about. And it helps everyone. It directs more resources to where they are needed most and it allows the rest of the world to benefit from it. And this moron says no parent wants their child to go into the factory or the farm, but they only do it because they have no other choice?? Is that really how he feels about factory workers and farmers?! Most factory workers do it to fund their lifestyle outside of work - they don't really care about how they spend their time at work if it brings home enough to enjoy their life. And farmers?! Many of them do it because they like the idea of working the land and creating something that can be sold for profit. This guy approaches this whole topic from an elitist point of view.
Liberty is too good an idea to be poorly defended.
