2nd Stimulus Package Coming

House Democratic leaders are putting together a second economic stimulus package that could cost as much as $150 billion, according to Democratic leadership aides.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said the economic crisis may warrant a $150 billion stimulus package.

The aides said Democrats are likely to call Congress back shortly after the election to vote on the measure.


The details are still in flux, but one aide said the price tag would be "somewhat north of $100 billion" and would include "a heavy emphasis on help to state and local governments."



One way to help states would be to fund the mandatory state match for Medicaid programs so that states would not have to slash education and other programs to cover it.

Is no one actually looking at the proposal???.. they really aren't talking about sending everyone checks this time, mostly just giving money to state governments to prop up welfare, unemployment, and for infrastructure.. they're considering adding some tax rebates, but that's not really the goal of this stimulus..

The Dem's were working on this weeks before the 700 billion bailout was drafted and passed.. first time I heard of it way back then I naively thought it was all just another tax rebate like the last one, but bigger from the price tag.. thought- ok, they're devaluing the dollar anyways, I wouldn't mind some extra cash to help prepare for the crap coming..then I found out the money (again) isn't even really for us.. go figure.. they've got the public programmed that "stimulus" means money falls from the sky.. not this time..

So sounds like they have basically just decided they need to fund the natives who they have already disenfranchised by sending their jobs out of country to keep civil unrest down and the government daycare (ie school) program going so people can continue services????

It will be too late in the year for infrastructure projects such as road works and bridge work for most of the country so this will be mainly their social programs, correct?? Or is this to cover state deficit spending because they are going bankrupt?

ok...read the article...where the heck are they going to be building at in the middle of the dead of winter??? That was their lead line with the paragraph you quoted on social programs in the middle. (definately intentional) Sure they want folks to think it would go towards true infrastructure but the areas with the worst systems will not be capable of doing anything until spring...

I def. agree the places that need infrastructure repair more than anywhere else won't be doing anything until spring.. maybe their specifically picked contractors need their money before spring because when the economy completely collapses I doubt the tax payers would be trilled to be throwing money at roads..

I imagine this is specifically aimed to prop up all the state budgets that are in the negative.. you know all those welfare and unemployment recipients will start revolting if they don't get their handout..

They've designed a system to make as many people as possible dependent on government programs- they've gotta keep the charade up before people start questioning why we need the government to be taking such a portion of our money and spending exorbitant amounts... like someone else said in here.. as long as the sheeple are getting a piece of the pie of free hand outs they will unfortunately be complacent..

I thought we were talking about the new stimulus package the communists are writing legislation for? I want to remind ya'll of something. Most of you weren't around in the sixties ...I was. I remember what was going on with all the Black Panther stuff and communist acts against the US government ..etc. I was THERE..I lived it. I lived through the riots of the civil rights movement. I remember Kent State..I remember how the communist party was rallying up protests against the establishment. These democratic congressmen/women who are the party leaders..alll came out of those movements in the sixties. They may look like old clean cut men in suits...ie Harry Reid..etc...but in the sixties..these were the guys who were boming military recruiting centers and burning their draft cards. They have ALWAYS hated our traditions...the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They are slightly older than me...I remember alll of that back in the sixties. Is that what you want? Do you want your children/grandchildren to live in communist USSR? Well baby, that's what you are about to get. TONES

Yeah...I hate how they stuff the reality in the middle of an article. I guess that was the same point I was making on how the were painting over the real reason they were seeking this cash. I think we came out of this with the same impression. Those on the dole generally have less to lose so will be more vicious when services are cut. You might be right with seeking the cash upfront for next seasons projects because the future looks bleak....

Both Obama and McCain signed off on the bailout bill. The bill was put forth by the Republican President and his Secretary of the Treasury. Your point?

We should tell our congressmen "The American people want a cut."

Lets see. 1000 dollars per person, 2000 for married couples. 450 dollars per child each year until the child reaches 18. Small business owners get 5,000 to invest in their business. 10% is taken off everyone's student loans. Homeowners get a 5,000 dollar credit to use towards improving the value of their homes.

I mean, if wall street gets 700b- its time we stand up for true democracy. Mob rule and tyranny of the majority.
