https://www.al.com/news/2024/05/alabama-driver-ordered-to-say-sorry-or-face-jail-for-telling-officer-get-your-ass-out-of-the-way.html Reginald Burks doesn’t want to say, “I’m sorry.” Sure, the 39-year-old father and aircraft mechanic said some harsh things to the officer who pulled him over. But even now, almost six months later, Burks said he had the right to speak his mind. Court officials in the small town of Ozark in southeast Alabama don’t agree. Ozark Municipal Court Judge Nicholas Bull ordered Burks to apologize in writing to the officer. Either that or face 10 to 30 days in jail.

Ah. A hip hop party in the middle of an open field in rural Alabama. You're telling me you couldn't take one look at that poster and say "Yeah....I'll pass?" I stand by what I said earlier. The gangsta types are mostly a menace to each other. And there is a real cultural problem. It's not just the music. Games like "Grand Theft Auto" and movies like "The Fast and The Furious" and "Bad Boys 1 - 3" make gun violence and street racing seem cool and without real consequences. And who's driving a culture that promotes black on black violence? Ice Cube knows. Ice Cube also explained to Tucker Carlson what's wrong with the police. The want to go home (as does everyone) and they want to "win." https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LzChYmJSYJk The problem with that is obvious when you think about it. Like this white cop who can't get out of the way of this black father trying to take his kids to school.

I mean it is a freaking dart. Is chess segregated? If so are men better at chess than women? If so then men are smarter than women. End of debate.

I have no idea. I thought about that myself when I first heard the story. I do think that some of the drama would go away but just making as many sports as possible co-ed. Equestrian is already that way.

Don't put words in my mouth. I was responding to someone else who claimed that a different candidate would better help Trump win. You admit that RFK Jr. would probably have a horrible voting record if he was in congress, but you like his candidacy because of some of the issues he would highlight. Well, police reform is an important issue to me. I would love to see Kamala Harris have to debate Tim Scott and explain why the "progressive prosecutor" filibustered police reform only to be part of the Biden administration that would later push for the same things. FFS someone should be able to say "I like X" and "X" not be RFK Jr without you trying to give that person the third degree.

Yep. School shootings are rare. And most gang shootings affect people in poor neighborhoods. Something to be dealt with for sure but it's not happening everywhere. My cousin, who was a middle school principal, hired veterans to be janitors for that very reason.

Those mass shootings include gang on gang violence. If you look at school shootings by themselves you get a different picture. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Racial-Ethnic-Identity-of-Shooters-Racial-Ethnic-Group-Percentage-N_tbl3_308401952 You can avoid gang shootings by staying out of poor neighborhoods. You can avoid school shootings by........? (arming teachers but that's about it.)

Only 3 of the votes you listed have arguably anything to do with policing and those are all federal issues. The young airmen that just got gunned down by local cops going to the wrong house was not killed by the FBI. I agree the FBI / ATF etc has done some garbage (@Anti Federalist brings up Waco and I agree), none of the votes in your list are about what the how the feds should or should not conduct raids. It's apples and oranges. Tim Scott's police reform bill was a good step forward period! I could care less whether or not Trump wins in November. But Tim Scott might shore up the 20% of black voters who are right now thinking about voting for Trump. The people who voted Trump / Pence in 2016 would vote Trump / Scott in 2020.

Any industry could face ultimate doom. Growing up GM was the stock all others were measured by. I think in the foreseeable future Tesla is not going anywhere. EV's are not for everyone and the Grid cannot support EV's for everyone. My wife just purchased a new Tesla and guess what, it won't be ready for several weeks. This is where Tesla shines. My guess is they have more AI, robots, and automation than any manufacturer. Even their sales is mostly done via app. The entire process requires little human interaction. If they are building cars to meet demand and not overproducing they will never have cars they cannot sell. Tesla will taylor production to meet demand. In my opinion as long as there is self transportation the EV is not going anywhere and Tesla is the best EV out there and is competitive with comparable non EV vehicles with or without tax subsidies/incentives/credits. The problem is not the EV it is the Government. Tesla probably has a brighter future than ICE only or manufacturers that are trying to produce both. I think Tesla has lean manufacturing that other companies will never achieve. Look at it this way. For a competitor to begin to compete the first thing they need to do is get rid of every dealer and sell direct to the public. But maybe the problem with that model is that all ICE vehicles need service departments to handle the warranty work and repairs and maintenance whereas Tesla simply sends a WIFI software update. In my opinion Tesla is way ahead of the competittion and it doesn't matter if they lose China or don't sell to every American. They are sustainable at any foreseeable level of production volume. They don't need to expand and grow to be profitable and they don't need subsidies either. People will buy Tesla because it is a good car and they can charge it at home. That same person will have a ICE car for long trips or just rent for trips or figure it out. Everybody doesn't need to travel 10 hours without stopping.

Seems like a horse would be even more reliable. Maybe a bicycle with solid rubber tires. I didn't live in the old days but it seemed like people traveled on horse and the horse survived. But then again all the vegetation is gone. Maybe they can live on Japanese knotweed, there is plenty of that.

Police reform is VERY important to me. There are things I don't like about RFK JR as well. Selective outrage much? Edit: I'm 100% certain that if RFK Jr. had ever been elected to the House or Senate there'd be an RFK Jr on the record thread with a lot of "bad" votes.

Really? You don't see your own position as extreme? Okay. At some point, if left to nature, the baby becomes born. What then? Is the government still not allowed to be involved? The father that put his 6 year old son on a treadmill until his heart ruptured shouldn't be prosecuted? It's okay as long as you don't have to pay for it? I have seen people take that position and if that's your position, okay. It's just not mine. I think English common law got it right. But at the very least, at week 21 when a baby (excuse me "fetus") can recognize his or her mother's voice, some protection should be afforded it.
