With all due respect my brother, and I do have a great deal of respect for you, I think you're missing something here. I don't believe that fisharmor was in any way even implying that it was incumbent upon Anti Federalist or anyone else to "do something ... on behalf of those others now here as well." I think that fish was trying to direct AF's attention to the fact that he (AF) was falling for the usual misdirection, focusing the lion's share of his attention on the proximate effect (the immigrants themselves) and directing it away from the actual root cause of the problem.
I think that PAF is basically making the same point in his own individual way.
IMO, the whole thing boils down to the Thoreau quote that "There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root." You can hack away at the branches of a problem forever and never make any appreciable progress. The only way to actually solve any problem is to strike at the root.
fisharmor and PAF are right, IMO. I think AF IS focusing too much attention on the branches, and not enough on the roots.
