John McCain's Iowa victory -- and his hundred years' war
It seems presidential hopeful John McCain simply cannot lose in the eyes of the media; the worse his performance, the more over-the-top their cheerleading for him becomes. Winning 15 percent of the vote would have been "strong," they told us. When McCain actually finished with 13 percent, we were told it was a "perfect" result for him. Had McCain come in dead last, with only four votes, Fred Barnes would probably have told us McCain was inaugurated three days ago and has already declared war on Iran. Perhaps the Iowa caucus results weren't really "perfect" for McCain -- but the media's coverage of him certainly has been. http://mediamatters.org/

I remember a similar incident a few months ago with CNN. FOX made a huge deal out of it and it became international press. I am sure CNN would love to return the favor.

I'm not a Huckabee fan, but it has been quite apparant that FOX has a huge bias AGAINST Huckabee. This is very much scripted. And please don't be hypocritical, and say he deserves it because he's an asshat, blah blah. We hate it when they do it to us. I think you should post it there anyway and let the Court of Public Opinion sort it out. It's certainly fishy and I don't think it would be unethical to bring it to others' attention. Otherwise how can they investigate?

And be sure to include a lot of popular search terms at the bottom like "FredThompson" and "Elections" They're mad at Fox for Luntz's bashing of Thompson.

It is without a doubt the same guy - what a great find. Both "focus groups" were from New Hampshire. Not to be a spoiler to this great find (because I do think they are rigged) but its not like he is shilling for the same candidate in both. He may actually be an undecided voter. In the first video he commends McCain and in the second he supports Romney. Obviously Luntz phrases the questions in a way to get the response he wants, but I would guess since they already had that same guy in the first focus group and his contact info they probably keep up with their previous people to see if they are still undecided and this guy maybe just so happened to be undecided.

I'm not saying that Luntz is not crooked, but the guy really does seem to be undecided between the two focus groups. You would think they would come up with some new people!

Edit: Sorry guess someone was typing the same thing as me when posting - sorry Wildflower!)

Ok, you all are going to kill me for this... :o

but I don't think I can post this on FR.

Because as some here have said, it can easily be explained that it was just an undecided voter who was used twice.... and hadn't come to his decision until tonight.

Unless we have some video proof that in the previous one he for sure decided on McCain - only to appear in tonights as an "undecided" who went to Romney.

But even then, people do change their minds.

I'm already on thin ice on that site, for being a Paul supporter. If I post something like this, I'll probably get banned... I've been a member there since 99, so I don't want to get banned, because I have been posting about Paul there (and refuting the lies told about him) and someone needs to do that.

sorry if I made anyone mad. :(

I'm certainly not going to force you to do it, wildflower, or bash you, but I really think it is important to get this out. I'd do it myself, if I hadn't already been banned there. And now it doesn't seem to be letting me create a new account.

You wouldn't even have to mention Ron Paul (in fact I'd advise against it) and FR is already angry with Fox over the Fred Thompson bash and excluding Hunter. Even if what you're saying is true, Luntz should still have explained that. He and Fox made it seem like these were basically random people pulled off the street. People should be made aware of the facts so that they can continue to investigate and decide for themselves.

It's up to you of course, but I'd strongly recommend doing it.

The point is that Faux News makes these seem like RANDOM undecided people.........not STAGED actors selected by the news channel and used again later.

This is supposed to be a FOCUS GROUP !!!

Not mad Wildflower. I think you made a good decision.

I think Luntz definitely phrases his questions to get the responses he wants and plays dirty tricks, but attacking this guy who might really be undecided would do us more harm than good. I must say it was an incredible catch though! Plus, its not worth losing your account when you have the potential to sway other people at Free Republic especially since you've been a member since '99.

If someone else wants to pose the question without as long of a history on Free Republic I think that would be ok, just be careful with your wording.

If you want to get the word out quick to the media, I have compiled a list of over 5,000 emails to news outlets all over the US

Just copy and paste about 50 of them into your email program.

Thanks NYgs23 and ord33.

I have a friend who's a regular there in good standing... I'll ask him if he wants to post it. I know he's very mad at Fox right now, because they excluded his guy (Hunter).

I'll see if he's still around tonight, and ask him if he'll post it. :)

Look, skeptics, all we're saying it that, AT LEAST, Luntz should have made known that he had repeat people in there WHICH HE DID NOT. He and Fox made it seem like these were basically random people picked up on the street. THIS GUY CLEARLY IS NOT. Fox should be made to give an explanation AT LEAST. People should know about this and make up there minds.

OK, wildflower. Personally, I don't think it should be that big a deal so long as the post is worded like a curious question: "This seemed a little unusual to me, unless I'm missing something. Has Frank Luntz said he places repeat in his focus group. What do you folks think about this?"

Which poster are you on FR, by the way? I recognize most of big RP people there. I used to be marsh_of_mists....

Maybe some of you guys are more familiar with this Frank Luntz guy... as a matter of fact I'm sure you are. I went to bed earlier watching Link TV and woke up to hear Luntz in a panel discussion on a show called 'There You Go Again: Orwell Comes to America - Deceiving Images' I was shocked... and I think I'll probably have some nightmares now.

This is the synopsis for the show... This panel, "Deceiving Images: The Science of Manipulation" features three experts in the field of communication - George Lakoff, Frank Luntz and Drew Westen - who are joined by moderator Nicholas Lemann, and asks whether the age of propaganda is over or if politicans and pundits are just refining the techniques of manipulation. These panelists from both the left and right reveal their secrets about how politicians manipulate the public.

I wonder if he reveals any tricks, err I mean techniques that we'll recognize. Here's the link if anyone wants to have a look:

http://www.linktv.org/programs/orwell_deceiving

I just thought the timing was mighty interesting.

Fox News Attempts to Control the Outcome of the Republican Presidential Nomination.

Fox News, the “Fair and Balanced” news channel, has decided that the American people do not need to hear Ron Paul’s message of peace, liberty, and prosperity. Fox News did not invite Ron Paul to attend their debate on January 6th, even though Ron Paul raised nearly 20 million dollars this quarter, holds the record at 6.02 million dollars for largest fundraising day in a presidential election, and even finished higher than Rudy Giuliani did in Iowa. Now it appears that Fox News didn’t want to take the risk the members of the focus group being Ron Paul supporters. Last night Fox News hit a new low at their January 6th debate by having Frank Luntz, a focus group organizer with a questionable reputation, randomly pick the same “undecided” voter for their presidential debate focus group for a second time. This “undecided” voter once again decided to support the candidate that Fox News is trying to push to the front of the pack.

“Chuck” the undecided voter who was randomly chosen for both Fox News focus groups.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. There should still be a whole post on it.

It doesn't need a whole thread. Plus, chances are that the thread would be deleted. You've got a post over there now that refers to the plant. Go respond to that post. Flag any other FR poster you know. Add a post with the digg link (it's somewhere up thread here) and the youtube link.

Liberty, if you're sending this to Olberman I really, really REALLY don't think you should mention Ron Paul. He probably has all e-mails with the phrase "Ron Paul" in them sent to his spam folder. He avoids ever mentioning him. Just make it about Fox's and Luntz's "right-wing" antics and shenanigans. That's what Olberman likes.

I can't do jack squat over there--I've been banned. Otherwise, I'd already have started a thread. I don't think it would be banned so long as RP is not mentioned (and there's not reason he should be) and it's phrased like a curious query. Remember, that Luntz's latest fake focus group was bashing FR's boy Thompson all over the room and surely FR FredHeads know it. Also most Freepers do appear to be actually annoyed by Fox banning Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter (who they like). Even most of those who don't like RP are saying he shouldn't be censored by Fox.

We have to push this into the MSM and forums like FR and DailyKos are good ways to do it.
